Meyers Brothers Kalicka, P.C.

Richard M. Chase, CPA/PFS

Partner-in-Charge, Financial Planning and Wealth Management Services

As Partner-in-Charge of Financial Planning and Wealth Management Services, Richard assists clients in developing and implementing financial strategies to build, manage and preserve their wealth. A Certified Public Accountant with more than 25 years of professional experience, Richard specializes in all areas of personal finance, including pre- and post-retirement planning, estate and gift tax planning, income tax planning, investment planning, education planning, insurance planning and charitable giving. Richard and his professional staff act as personal financial coaches for many of the firm’s clients, helping them get organized, set personal and family financial goals, and develop strategies to achieve them. By removing the day-to-day burden of coordinating the advice and work of a multitude of other advisors, Richard and his staff enable clients to spend more of their time enjoying life and doing what they do best.

In 1990, Richard became one of the first CPAs in New England to earn the Personal Financial Specialist designation. The PFS accreditation was established for CPAs who specialize in personal financial planning and is awarded exclusively to members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants who have demonstrated considerable experience and expertise in that area. The CPA/PFS designation is held by less than one percent of CPAs in the United States.

Richard has been a speaker at the AICPA National Investment Planning Conference and has served as an instructor for the AICPA's Personal Financial Planning Certificate of Educational Achievement Program.

Richard received his BSBA in Accounting summa cum laude from Boston University and his MBA from the University of Southern California. In addition to the AICPA, he is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Estate Planning Council of Hampden County, Inc.

In the community, Richard serves as treasurer of the Jimmy Fund Council of Western Massachusetts and chairman of Jewish Geriatric Services Inc.

Richard, who in his younger days spent seven weeks bicycling cross-country from the Atlantic to the Pacific, continues to be an avid exerciser. He also enjoys golf, though he’s not addicted to it. Richard’s claim to fame in the world of sports was that he helped man the offensive line in high school with a teammate who went on to spend eight seasons in the NFL, playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
