Kevin E. Hines, CPA, MST, CVA, CSEPPartner-in-Charge, Business Valuation and Litigation Support
Kevin is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Massachusetts and Connecticut. He holds a Masters in Science of Taxation, Certified Specialist in Estate Planning and is a Certified Valuation Analyst. You may think that he has a goal to add as many initials after his name as possible, but in reality, he is pursuing his personal interest of being able to understand and advise business owners from the inception of a business, to details in a day to day operation, to valuing a business for transition, to investigative accounting, to succession planning. His interest is in understanding his client and how he can offer his services to compliment their goals.
Kevin’s clients come from the construction, manufacturing, retail and service industries with many crossovers. One example is a client in the service industry with a spouse in the manufacturing industry. One chooses to redirect the business focus and Kevin steps in to address the financial applications in analyzing the changes, how they should be addressed and the most logical way to initiate the changes.
Kevin’s passions can best be described by his wife. She will tell about how when they were dating it was common to find Kevin in her driveway at the end of the day in his car reading the latest tax or business valuation journal (he now reads them in the comfort of their home). She can only laugh about it given her passion for reading marketing publications. He is passionate about continuing his learning to best serve his clients. “If a client contacts me with a financial issue that is crossing his desk, I want to be able to immediately say to him consider these three issues. In order to do that I need to stay current on changing tax laws, business valuation options and management advisory issues.”
Kevin addresses his other personal interests in the same manner – his enthusiasm for golf, hiking, gardening and restoring his historic Springfield home.
Kevin has been an accountant since 1982. He joined Meyers Brothers as a Senior Tax Manager in 1997. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, The Estate Planning Council of Hampden County, and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
